Strand History

The first company project was to build a new E-commerce site for Strand Bookstore. A pair of us built the (now retired) site with Ruby, Clearsilver, Postgres and passenger under Apache. The project pre-dated Rails, but it was still a great technology mix for the time.

We maintained the system and it ran until 2008 when it was replaced by another vendor.

In 2018 we returned to Strand to replace that system with the latest combination of Phoenix, Absinthe GraphQL and React/JS with Apollo. This system ran until 2023.

In 2023, a new system based on Magento launched and our role was to integrate that new site with Basil and Ingram.
